Some technicians may find one or more of the following codes set in the Engine Control Module (ECM). • P219A • P219B Some technicians may also comment that no noise is associated with the condition and passes the AFIT injector test. Note: If noise is present, review Bulletin 21–NA-278. Cause While common for this to be diagnosed as injectors- AFIT usually finds this issue. This bulletin addresses damaged Switching Roller Finger Followers (SRFF). Damaged; including stuck or binding locking pin or broken or worn Pin shelf. Page 2 October, 2022 Bulletin No.: 22-NA-193 Information 1. Remove the cam cover of the affected bank (A is Bank 1, B is Bank 2) to inspect for Switching Roller Finger Followers (SRFF) and dual function stationary hydraulic lash adjusters for cylinder 5 or cylinder 2. 2. Inspect the SRFFs and rocker assemblies for any damage or dislodge. ⇒ While inspecting the rockers, it will be necessary to rotate the engine over by hand to ensure that the rockers are opening the valves. Note: Camshaft carrier assembly removal will be necessary to fully inspect the rockers and SRFFs. ⇒ Below are pictures of possible SRFF failures. If any one of the SRFFs are damaged, it will be necessary to replace all four on the affected cylinder. 3. Replace the SHLA’s and the damaged Switching Roller Finger Followers (SRFF) on the bank found to be the concern. 5924237 5924233 4. If any of the conditions listed above have been verified, refer to the Service Procedure listed in SI for replacement of the Switching Roller Finger Followers (SRFF) and dual function stationary hydraulic lash adjusters cylinder 5 or cylinder 2.
