A6) No, this inspection/repair will be done at no cost to the customer.

A7) No, when a remedy is available and/or sufficient quantity of parts are available, the recall bulletin will be released, and dealers can begin repairing vehicles.

STOP DELIVERY ORDER
Effective immediately, stop the delivery of certain 2024 model year Chevrolet Corvette vehicles in new or used vehicle inventory. General Motors has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about a safety recall that involves these vehicles. The GM recall number is N242441390.
It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification until the defect is remedied.
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 2024 – 2025 model year Chevrolet Corvette vehicles. These vehicles may contain a driver and/or passenger seatbelt retractor that, under certain conditions, can become locked in a stowed position and unavailable as an occupant restraint. Occupants who travel without a properly functioning seatbelt have an increased risk of injury if the vehicle is involved in a crash.
Parts are not currently available, but when parts are available, dealers are to replace the driver and/or passenger seatbelt retractors.
Until further instructions are received, involved vehicles that are in dealers’ possession (new or used vehicle inventory, GM Certified Used, courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, etc.) must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer-traded, released to auction, used for demonstration purposes or any other dealer use. All GM Certified Used vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the Certified Pre-Owned Inventory System (CPOIS) will be de-certified.
The Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) screen in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system has been updated for this recall June 6, 2024. This action has been taken to assist dealers with determining which vehicles are involved so they can properly respond to customer inquiries.
A list of involved vehicles that have been identified as being in dealer new vehicle inventory is attached to this message. It is sorted by dealer Business Associate Code (BAC) for easy reference. Your dealership’s BAC will not be listed if none of the involved vehicles are currently in your new vehicle inventory. To identify involved vehicles in dealer used inventory, run an Open VIN Report or Field Action Initiation Report using Field Action Reports-GFAM within the Maxis Dealer Application in GlobalConnect.

Until the recall bulletin is released, the Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) screen in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system will display “06/06/2024” under Release Date and “Incomplete – Remedy Not Available” under Status. This means the required repair is not yet available and dealers should not attempt to perform any repairs.
We are working with the supplier to obtain the required parts as quickly as possible. When a sufficient quantity of parts are available, the recall bulletin will be released and dealers can begin repairing vehicles.

Chronology :
On February 26, 2024, a GM engineer submitted an issue to GM’s Speak Up For Safety program as follow-up to a quality alert issued by GM’s assembly plant regarding retractor lock-up observed in the 2024 Corvette seatbelt. GM opened a product investigation on April 9, 2024. GM’s supplier identified two retractor components that may be slightly outside of the supplier’s dimensional specifications. If (1) both components are out-of-specification and (2) the belt is fully extended to engage the ALR function, the belt can subsequently become locked in the stowed position. GM’s investigation identified 56 field complaints possibly related to this condition. These were received by GM between October 13, 2023, and May 21, 2024. On May 30, 2024, GM’s Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a safety recall for vehicles built with seatbelt retractors from the supplier’s suspect production window. GM is not aware of any field incidents, accidents or injuries associated with this condition.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Dealers will replace the driver and/or passenger seatbelt retractors.
Pursuant to 49 C.F.R. § 573.13(d)(1), all covered vehicles are under warranty, so reimbursement is not offered. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Replacement retractors were produced outside of the supplier’s suspect production window.
Containment efforts were initiated at GM’s assembly plant on April 29, 2024, and expanded on May 22, 2024. An error in containment execution was discovered and corrected on May 31, 2024. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Dealers will be notified on June 6, 2024. Owner notification is estimated
to begin on July 22, 2024. This recall will be executed under three bulletins: N242441390, N242441391, and N242441392.
