Condition: MIL Illuminated Possible Reduced Engine Power Message with DTC
p2101 and/or P1516 Set as Current or History.
Cause: Possible Throttle Body Internal Gel Contamination Issue.
Correction
If you encounter a vehicle with the above condition complete the latest SI diagnostics for DTC
P2101 and/or P1516.
If the published diagnostics lead to ECM replacement and the vehicle was built prior to February
2019 do not replace the ECM.
First, inspect terminal tension at the ECM and throttle body and verify no wiring related issues
are present between the ECM and throttle body, if no wiring or terminal related issues were found,
replace throttle body assembly using Service Information and retest.
Note: If the vehicle was built after February 2019 and published SI diagnostics has led to ECM
replacement, complete the ECM replacement procedure using Service Information and retest.
