| Condition | Some customers may comment on finding water under the rear seat area and/or noting a musty smell in the vehicle cabin. |
| Cause | This condition may be caused by water overrunning the rear slider window channel. This condition most commonly occurs during very heavy rain storms or if the truck is parked, facing a seven degree or higher downward angle. |
Correction
Inspect the rear floor for signs of water. If water is found, install the foam end cap seal listed in the part table below to the rear sliding window regulator using the service procedure below.
Service Procedure
Note: Remove the rear seats as one piece. DO NOT separate the seats.
- To gain access to rear sliding window regulator and cables, remove the rear seat and reposition seat forward. Refer to the appropriate Rear Seat Removal and Installation in SI.
- Detach the rear window lower garnish molding (1). Refer to Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Crew Cab, Extended Cab) in SI.
- Detach the driver side rear sliding window block (1) from the window channel by unsnapping the bottom, and rolling the block upward.
- Install the foam end cap seal (1) to the end of the channel. This will position the foam between the end cap and the channel assembly.
- Reinstall the rear sliding window block by pulling it back into position, starting with the top, then pulling it down to snap in place.
- Reinstall the rear window lower garnish molding. Refer to Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.
- Reinstall the rear seat. Refer to Rear Seat Removal and Installation in SI.
