Summary
This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that continue to running after the engine is shut off. Technician should check for fuses installed into F26UA and F31UA. If fuses are found in any of the two locations the fuses must be removed.
Condition/Concern
After turning the ignition key off, the engine stays running. This will not be an intermittent issue. If the F34UA fuse (located in the UBEC) is removed, the engine will turn off.
This condition could be caused by the installation of a fuse in the F26UA and/or F31UA location of the UBEC. These two fuse locations (F26UA and F31UA) are left empty from the factory and should NOT have fuses installed in these positions. Even if the truck has the Upfitter Auxiliary Switch option (RPO 9L7), these positions are, and should be, left empty.

Silverado 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 2015 GMC Sierra The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern Some owners may comment that after turning the ignition key off, the engine stays running. This will not be an intermittent issue. If the F34UA fuse (located in the UBEC) is removed, the engine will turn off This condition could be caused by the installation of a fuse in the F26UA and/or F31UA location of the UBEC. These fuse positions did not have fuses from the factory and should not have fuses installed. Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
