The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern
Customers may comment on any one of the following conditions:
- Intermittent “Hood Open” message displayed on the DIC
- Intermittent theft deterrent alarm or horn activation
- Intermittent remote vehicle start event
The “Hood Open” message may turn off after cycling the ignition switch. Dealers have found that adjusting the hood latch only works for a short time and customer returns with the same concern.
This condition may be caused by moisture within the hood latch switch.
Recommendation/Instructions
Do not adjust the hood latch for this concern.
If, after performing diagnostic checks the cause of the fault is not obvious and the vehicle was built within the specified window (see Models section), it is suggested to replace the hood latch assembly.
