Correction
Follow the information listed below for inspecting the sunroof wiring harness label for date codes.
Note: DO NOT replace the overhead console for this condition. Please follow the bulletin and verify the build date of the sunroof wiring harness prior to replacement of any other components.
- If the harness code is prior to 6QK (June 25, 2016), then the harness is suspect and needs to be replaced following the procedure below. • If the harness code is after 6QK, then the sunroof motors should be inspected. Refer to further diagnostics in SI.
Note: DO NOT replace the sunroof motor or sunshade motor for this concern.
Service Procedure
Follow the procedure listed below for lowering the rear headliner and replacing the sunroof wiring jumper harness:
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SI.
- Lower the headliner from the rear up to the B-pillar. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (With Sunroof) in SI.
- Disconnect the sunroof wiring jumper harness from the sunroof window motor to the headliner harness.
- Connect the new sunroof wiring jumper harness starting from the sunroof motor while re-clipping it to the headliner down to the headliner harness.
Important: DO NOT change the wiring harness routing location. Correct harness routing is critical for the air bag deployment. Possible injury or vehicle damage could result if the harness routing is changed.
