Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on the shifter handle knob being cracked and/or will not operate while shifting out of Park.
This condition may occur if the chrome knob on the shifter handle cracks, not allowing the shifter to engage into gear.
Recommendation/Instructions
Replace the chrome shifter knob with the shifter handle knob kit that is now available. DO NOT replace the transmission shifter control for this condition.
Follow the procedure below for installing the new shifter handle knob kit:

Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on the shifter handle knob being cracked and/or will not operate while shifting out of Park.
This condition may occur if the chrome knob on the shifter handle cracks, not allowing the shifter to engage into gear.
Recommendation/Instructions
Replace the chrome shifter knob with the shifter handle knob kit that is now available. DO NOT replace the transmission shifter control for this condition.
Follow the procedure below for installing the new shifter handle knob kit:
- Using a trim tool, remove the cover that is located on the top of the shifter handle as shown in the illustration above.
- Using the same trim tool, remove the cover that is located on the side of the shifter handle as shown in the illustration above.
- Remove the pin located under the chrome knob as shown in the illustration above.
- Push down on the white plastic adapter as shown in the illustration above, which will reduce tension on the knob, and remove.
- Push down on the white plastic adapter and slide the new knob in until the spring is locked in the slot on the knob as shown in the illustration above.
- Install the new pin and covers.
