Condition/Concern
A customer may comment that the audio is skipping while streaming music using Bluetooth.
Recommendation/Instructions
Streaming music through Bluetooth uses a lot of the radio’s processing resources. If the radio is also dedicating a large amount of resources to other applications such as navigation, booting, XM Weather, etc.., the Bluetooth audio may hesitate/skip as the system is being heavily loaded. This condition is a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle. It will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle.
Some recommendations that may help to alleviate the concern are;
- Free up resources on the radio by unplugging unneeded devices, cancelling navigation if not needed, waiting until after the radio completes the boot up sequence, etc…
- Free up resources on the phone by closing all open apps including unneeded apps running in the background
- Make sure that the device is on the most up to date software version

My vehicle is getting progressively worse with this. I don’t start streaming Bluetooth for the first 5 minutes of the ride. The only open application on my phone is the music. Not streaming music, just the music in the hard drive on my phone. I have an iPhone 7 plus, and the radio has done it with all my phones I’ve owned since purchasing this vehicle. Half the time the radio doesn’t want to connect to the Bluetooth device anyways. I have to turn Bluetooth on and off on my phone. Try to connect from the radio and still nothing. Have to shut the vehicle down and restart it for it to connect. As I type this, my vehicle shows the song playing, but I hear 3 seconds of music and that’s followed by 30 seconds of silence. The timer for the song is still moving along and I hear bits and pieces of the different songs. Can’t even listen to a whole song. I’ve reset my phone back to manufacturer settings to see if this would correct the problem, and it hasn’t. The radio is progressively getting worse. And the radio also gets stuck on a black screen after shifting from reverse to drive, but shows what’s on the rear camera when I come to a complete stop. The dealership looked at it as well, they said there was nothing they could do about it either. They said to just restart the vehicle to fix the problem. But the Bluetooth connectivity issues persist with each restart and also the rear view issue continues through each restart.
Also happens on my ‘new to me’ 2015 Cadillac SRX w/bose Centerpoint Surround. NOT IMPRESSED.
