Subject: Roof Panel Joint Finish Molding (Ditch Molding) Loose or Lifted in Areas
Models: 2014-2015 GMC Acadia
Attention: This PI also applies to any of the above models that may be Export vehicles.
Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment that the roof panel finish molding (ditch molding) has come loose or lifted in areas.
This may be caused by wrinkles in the sealant used to secure the body panels.
Recommendation/Instructions
If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern, follow the procedure below:
Important: Be careful to not damage the molding when removing.
- With the molding removed, visually inspect for wrinkles greater than 1 mm (0.04 in) in the sealant running along the location of the molding.
- Remove the wrinkles by using a sharp blade or scraper to gently shave the wrinkles out of the sealant.

Important: When shaving the sealant, exercise great caution to not scratch the paint around the surrounding areas.
- After shaving the wrinkles, clean all surfaces of any debris.

- After removing all the debris from the location, apply a small bead of weather-strip adhesive along the whole length of the channel.
Important: Do not use excessive amounts of weather-strip adhesive. Too much could cause the adhesive to become visible after the molding is reinstalled.
Important: If there is a hole in the location of the shaved area, be sure to fill the hole with weather-strip adhesive to eliminate the chance of leaks.
