A customer may comment that a Service Theft Deterrent message comes on intermittently. The issue may or may not be able to be duplicated. No current DTC’s will be found.
Cause
OnStar read request to ECM which causes the ECM to enter learn mode and turn on the message
Correction:
Note: Do not replace any parts or program any modules in an attempt to repair this concern.
OnStar has now cancelled the read request to prevent re-occurrence.
The vehicle can be returned to the customer. This will not affect the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle.
