A Vehicle may have a concern of service engine light, misfire and engine noise with possible of DTC
P0300 P0106 P0506,P3189, P318A, P318B, P318C, P318D, P318E, P318F, P3190
Possible broken valve spring.
Correction:
During inspection if you determine that the engine has a broken valve spring it will be necessary
to perform a cylinder leakage test on the affected cylinder. If no cylinder leakage is observed
follow the replacement guidelines below and replace the necessary parts and evaluate vehicle to
ensure no further concerns exist.
For 6.2L engines RPOs L87, LT1, LT4 and LT2 if vehicle has below 1000km replace all valve springs.
For vehicles above 1000km just replace the 1 broken valve spring.
For all other engine RPOs L82, L84 and L8T just replace the affected valve spring.
If cylinder damage is found it will be necessary to inspect further to determine the extent of the
engine damage to determine correct repair required. Also inspect the intake manifold runner for the
cylinder with the concern to ensure there is no damage. Reference 00-06-01-026M: Engine Replacement

If parts are required, they can be order through the GM CCA parts process. Use the vehicle
identification number (VIN), SI, and the GM Electronic Parts Catalog to determine the correct part
to order.
