Condition

Some customers may comment that their driver outside rearview mirror has numerous lines in it and it looks dim all the time. The electrical device may cause higher voltage to the mirror.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the installation of an aftermarket radar detector jumper harness that powers a radar detector.

Correction

Note: If this Condition if found, it may be a customer pay repair and NOT a Warrantable repair.

The technician should inspect for a jumper harness added to the mirror’s X1 connector. The connector located behind the front cover of the inside rearview mirror.

Authorization for disconnecting the jumper harness, and/or replacement of a damaged outside rearview mirror, must be obtained from the customer.
