Condition Some customers may comment that the rear brake lights stay on all the time and/or stay
on while the vehicle is turned off.
Cause
5608493
The cause of the condition may be a loose/damaged X200 connector at the left A-Pillar
near the floor.
Correction Test for a loose connection at the connector to see if the brake lights will turn on/off. If
found to be loose, repair the connection at the X200 connector.

Service Procedure
If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern,
remove the front side door sill garnish molding and
move the harness above the X200 before unplugging to
see if the brake lights come on or flicker. Refer to Front
Side Door Sill Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.
Open the connector and inspect for internal damage to
the connector and terminals.
• If the X200 connector is not fully seated or
damaged, repair as necessary.
• If the X200 connector is fully seated and no
damage can be found, continue diagnosis
referring to SI.
