Condition Some customers may comment on a loose fit and/or rattle type noise heard from the
liftgate sill garnish molding/accessory illuminated sill plate.
Cause This condition may be caused by the retainers not providing enough engagement to
fasten the liftgate sill garnish molding.
Correction Replace the retaining clips with the revised service retaining clips following the service
procedure below.
Service Procedure
1. Position the rear seats in the downward position.
2. Remove the rear compartment floor stowage trim
compartment. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor
Stowage Trim Compartment Replacement in SI.
3. Remove the liftgate lock striker cover. Refer to
Liftgate Lock Striker Cover Replacement in SI.
4. Remove the liftgate sill garnish molding. Refer to
Liftgate Sill Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.

5. Install the 8 new retaining clips to the liftgate sill
garnish molding.
6. Position the sill plate to the sill of vehicle and
engage the clips to the rear sill.
Note: Ensure that the door gasket is seated along the
bottom edge.
7. Reinstall the rear compartment floor stowage trim
compartment and secure with the retainers. Refer
to Rear Compartment Floor Stowage Trim
Compartment Replacement in SI.
8. Reinstall liftgate lock striker cover.
