This PI has been revised add the 2015 Model Year. Please discard PI1282.
Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on a Shift to Park message displayed in the drivers information center (DIC) when the vehicle is turned off.
This condition may be caused by the shifter detent spring (1) being miss-adjusted, causing the shifter to not close the Park switch (2) as shown in the illustrations above.
Recommendation/Instructions
Follow the procedure below for inspecting and/or adjusting the shifter spring detent and Park switch.
- Remove the floor shift control boot assembly and inspect the location of the shifter spring detent. Refer to Floor Shift Control Boot Replacement in SI.
Note: If no adjustment is needed upon inspection with the detent spring while in Park, pursue with further diagnosis in SI. If the shifter spring detent is not closing the switch when the shifter is in the Park position, continue following the steps below.
- Raise the vehicle and disconnect the shifter cable as shown in the illustrations above. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in SI.
- Lower the vehicle.
- With the shifter in the Park position, loosen the screw retaining the shifter detent spring, as shown in the illustration above, and lightly move the shifter forward.
Note: Once the shifter is lightly moved forward, the detent spring will close the Park switch as shown in the illustration above.
- Tighten the screw retaining the shifter detent spring.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 3 Nm (26 lb in).
- Cycle the plunger rod multiple times. Confirm the shifter operation and that the Shift to Park message is no longer displayed.
Note: Confirm ALL shifter operations and make sure that the Shift to Park message is no longer displayed in the drivers information center (DIC).
