The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition / Concern
After cylinder head replacement, the head may have an external oil leak, random misfires on all cylinders when camshaft is on low lift with light throttle and/or sets P16D0 P0300.
Recommendations / Instructions
If the head has an external oil leak, verify oil galley plugs #5 and #6 (see illustration below) have been installed.
If code P16D0 and/or P0300 sets, random cylinder misfire on all cylinders only when on camshaft lobe low lift, verify oil galley plug #10 (see illustration below) has been installed.
This oil galley plug is located in the head, behind the timing cover and would have an engine oil leak that is internal of the engine.
Oil galley plugs #9 (see illustration below) should already come installed in the new head.
NOTE: This PI will be updated or changed to a TSB as more information becomes available.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is
resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
