Impala vehicles may lose the ability to seal. This could allow water to leak into the trunk area. CORRECTION Dealers are to replace the tail lamp gaskets and inspect the trunk for water damage or odor. VEHICLES INVOLVED All involved vehicles are identified by Vehicle Identification Number on the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management system. Dealership service personnel should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be involved regardless of description or option content. For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided to US and Canadian dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports, or sent directly to export dealers. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned. The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a “do-it-yourselfer”. They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the tools, equipment, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information. To everyone that is having a problem of leaking tail lights in your trunks on Chevy impales please call and make a complaint to the NHTSA @ 1-888-327-4236 maybe with enough complaints something will be done. I too am having a problem again after having the repairs done in May 2014. I purchased my vehicle brand new in September of 2013 repair done at dealership. I noticed water in trunk December 2018 called dealership nothing they could do stated I only have 1 year on the new part. Car is now full of mold and mildew brake lights remain on even when car is off that drains the battery. I have no radio, Bluetooth can not connect to onstar was told my car needs a new tail light gasket, seal, new mat for trunk, carpet for rear floor, new amp, radio, battery and a brake pedal sensor over $3k!! This is unreal lifetime Gm customer gone hello Toyota at least you standby your product
I purchased a 2014 Chevy Malibu I got water in the trunk took it to dealership for repair not cover under warranty that means it is left on us Iam going to take my business some were else:
I have the same problem and apparently the previous owner did too–chevy dealership told me that it had already been repaired after looking up VIN and will not help with repair again. I am absolutely sick. How much will it cost to get all the water out and replace gaskets ? I don’t trust the dealerships around here but not sure I can handle myself…already finding mold ! Help !!!!
I have a 2014 Chevy impala that just recently have this same issue with both tail lamps and I was told that my specific vin # didn’t fall under this recall. I find it very ironic that my car has this same issue. I had to make the repairs myself. Very upset & will now take my business elsewhere. No help at all from GM!!! I was sold a defective car and warranty doesn’t cover the costs.
I purchased a 2014 impala lt 3 months ago I got water in my trunk took it to the dealership for repair I was it was the right taillight seal but it’s not cover under warranty the water damage to the spare tie and jack why is this cover by chevy if it is a now problem
