Summary
This preliminary informational bulletin provides repair information to correct a customer concern that the rear liftgate will not open with the outside handle.
Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment that the rear liftgate will not open with the outside handle.
This may be due to the liftgate latch release cable becoming separated from the outside handle.
Note: Liftgate latch cable CLIPS are not serviced separately.
Recommendation/Instructions
Replace the liftgate latch release cable with a new designed cable and the liftgate latch handle which comes with a new design cable clip.
Follow the instructions listed below:
1. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement in SI.
Note: Notice the orientation of the cable for installation purposes.
2. Disconnect the cable from the outside handle.
3. Disconnect the cable from the liftgate latch.
4. Remove the liftgate handle. Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement in SI.
5. Install the cable to the latch and outside handle. Rotate the blue clip counterclockwise until the clip is fully engaged to the cable.
6. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement in SI.

Please discard PI1317. Condition/Concern Some customers may comment that the rear liftgate will not open with the outside handle.
