Summary
This informational bulletin advises the technician of possibly installing the incorrect 1-2-7-8-R clutch fluid passage seal and which seal should be used with measurements of the seal.
Condition
Technician’s may find a no movement condition after replacement of the valve body on the 8L45 or 8L90 automatic transmission.
Cause
This may be due to the incorrect 1-2-7-8-R clutch fluid passage seal being installed or it is missing.
Correction
Technician should remove the transmission valve body and inspect for the 1-2-7-8-R clutch fluid passage seal to be installed correctly.
If the 1-2-7-8-R clutch fluid passage seal was installed during the valve body, then the technician will need to measure the length of the seal to make sure the correct seal was installed.
The 8L45 seal part number is 24262438 and the seal has no ID notches. This seal is 33.5 MM (1,32 in) tall.
The 8L90 seal part number is 24259218 and the seal has 5 ID notches. This seal is 23.1 MM (0.91 in) tall.
