Summary
This service bulletin provides repair information to correct a customer concern of a squeak noise heard coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle while driving over bumps when vehicle is at normal operating temperature.
Condition
Some customers may comment on hearing a squeak noise coming from the passenger, front side of the vehicle when driving over bumps. The noise may be more evident once the vehicle has reached normal operating temperature.
Cause
The cause of the condition may be that the radiator air baffle on the right side of the vehicle may be rubbing on the core support, causing the noise.
Correction
Once the condition is verified, following the steps in the Service Procedure below, remove and reinstall the baffle and trim material from the noted vertical and horizontal surfaces.
This will allow clearance between the baffle and the core support.

Cause 6146642 The cause of the condition may be that the radiator air baffle on the right side of the vehicle may be rubbing on the core support, causing the noise. The 2 common areas are shown in the graphic above. Remove the right side radiator air side baffle. Refer to the appropriate Radiator Air Side Baffle Replacement – Right Side procedure in SI. 6146643 2. Once the baffle is removed, measure 12.7 mm (0.50 in) inboard on the horizontal and vertical edges noted in the graphic above, and at that distance, draw lines with a marker. 3. Using scissors, or a similar tool, cut along the marked lines. Page 4 September, 2022 Bulletin No.: 22-NA-178 4285281 4. Reinstall the right side radiator air side baffle, ensuring there is proper clearance between the air baffle and the radiator core support. Refer to the appropriate Radiator Air Side Baffle Replacement – Right Side procedure in SI. Parts Information No parts are required for this repair.
