North America
Some passenger I/P Air Bag assemblies were built without an inflator. Because of this, these
passenger I/P Air Bag assemblies have been placed on a parts restriction, see list below.
Parts source change.
Correction:
Dealerships are to determine which passenger I/P Air Bag assembly is needed for their vehicle. If
it is one of the restricted Air Bags from the provided list below then contact the Technical
Assistance Center (TAC) per the instructions below. In addition, the dealership must order and
install inflator PN 84304240 into the new passenger I/P Air Bag assembly. This work must be done
by the dealership and a warranty claim must be submitted for this work, per the instructions below.
U. S. Dealers: Please contact TAC by opening a new case via Dealer Case Management (DCM) from the
DCM home page and request the needed part p/n, as well as, the reason for replacement. Example; SI
diagnostic, collision repair, etc. ALL parts request required a VIN.
Canada Dealers: Please contact TAC by calling and request the needed part p/n, as well as, the
reason for replacement. Example; SI diagnostic, Collision repair, etc. ALL parts request required
a VIN.
Note: ALL orders MUST have a VIN entered into the TAC case, even over-the-counter parts sales to
an independent body shop or a customer. In addition to that, any over-the-counter parts sales MUST
have the inflator installed into the air bag assembly by the dealership BEFORE the part is given to
the customer.
Dealerships will receive an Air Bag assembly that does not include the inflator. The dealership
will need to order inflator PN 84304240 in addition to the air bag assembly. The dealership is
required to install the inflator PN 84304240 into the new air bag assembly prior to the part being
installed in vehicle. The dealership is to follow the repair procedure outlined on the instruction
sheet included in the kit.

The dealership will be required to record the serial number off the new inflator being installed
into the Air Bag assembly, see example photos below. The serial number will then be recorded in
the repair order for proper

documentation.

If the old air bag assembly, removed from the vehicle, was NOT deployed then do NOT deploy it.
Return the undeployed air bag using the return shipping instructions located with the new inflator
PN 84304240.
If the old Air Bag assembly, removed from the vehicle, was already deployed then dispose of the
deployed air bag through normal refuse channels.
