Condition
Some customers may comment on an oil leak.
Some technicians may find the oil leaking from a bolt at the lower crankcase (bed plate).
Cause
This condition may be caused by porosity in the casting port of the bed plate at bolt hole #621.
Correction
Validate oil leaking from the bolt hole by cleaning area of concern.
- If oil can be validated to be coming from bolt hole #621, apply sealant to the middle of the bolt and torque to specifications.
Important: When applying sealant to the threads. Allow a minimal of 12 hours for the sealant to cure. DO Not run engine until the cure period is over.
⇒ Only apply Loctite PST 565 or equivalent to the threads indicated above (A), leaving the top and bottom threads clear of sealant.
If oil can not be validated to be coming from bolt hole #621, refer to SI for further diagnostics.
