Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Safety Recall N242441050
Mobileye Camera Cable Pinched
These questions and answers are being provided to help GM dealers respond to inquiries from involved vehicle owners about the Safety Recall identified above.
Q1) Which vehicles are involved?
A1) Isuzu Motors Limited has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2020-2024 model year Chevrolet 6500XD/7500XD Low Cab Forward vehicles equipped with Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning (Mobileye) (RPO Y65).
Q2) What is the issue or condition?
A2) In the affected vehicles, the Mobileye camera cable extends from the centrally mounted windshield camera to the left A-pillar of the vehicle. In some of the subject vehicles, the Mobileye camera cable was installed in a manner that allowed the cable to become damaged either by the dash mounting bolts, the steel dash support bracket or by the dash itself. In the event the camera cable is damaged, the potential exists for the turn signal indicator wire, in the cable, to become grounded to the vehicle cab. If this condition occurs, when using the turn signal(s) or hazard lights, up to 15 amps of unexpected current can flow into this circuit. This will result in a buildup of heat within two diodes in the T-harness located under the left side of the dash. Continued operation of the turn signal(s) or hazard lights results in gradual failure of the diode(s) due to excess current. The diode(s) can become hot enough to ignite the T-harness insulating material, resulting in a fire.
Q3) What symptoms may be experienced? What warning signs may be associated with the issue or condition described?
A3)
- The activation of the vehicle’s hazard lights, when either the left or right turn signal is activated.
- The turn signal or hazard lights will not activate due to a failed F-26 15-amp fuse.
- An error code displayed on the Mobileye display, or no display shown.
- An electrical burning smell.
- Smoke from under the left side of the dash.
Q4) What is the remedy/repair?
A4) Dealers will be required to inspect the Mobileye camera cable. If the cable is undamaged, the dealer will reroute the cable to a revised location within the dash that does not contain any potential pinch or bolt damage points. If the turn signal indicator wire within the cable is damaged, the dealer will remove and replace the Mobileye camera cable and T-harness, then reroute the cable to the revised location.
Q5) What is the safety risk? Is the vehicle safe to drive?
A5) If the turn signal indicator wire in the Mobileye camera cable is grounded, one or more of the following events could occur – in each case, increasing the risk of a fire or crash:
- The hazard lights may illuminate when the driver applies either the left or right turn signal.
- The turn signals and hazard lights may not function when the driver applies them.
- The Mobileye system may cease to function and display an error code, or no longer provide the driver with any collision avoidance information on the display.
- Smoke or fire may occur under the left side of the dash.
Q6) Does the customer have to pay for this remedy/repair?
A6) No, this inspection/repair will be done at no cost to the customer.
Q7) Is the remedy/repair available now?
A7) No, when a remedy is available and/or sufficient quantity of parts are available, the recall bulletin will be released, and dealers can begin repairing vehicles.
Q8) What should customers do until recall repairs can be completed? Are there any special instructions?
A8) If special instructions are provided, they will be included in the notification letters to customers.
Q9) How can customers check to see if their vehicle is involved in this field action?
A9) Customers who own a vehicle involved in the field action will be notified by mail by General Motors, but they may also check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for field actions in GM Owner Center at https://experience.gm.com/ownercenter/recalls or via NHTSA’s website at https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/.
Q10) If customers are concerned, can they get a rental car or courtesy transportation?
A10) Courtesy transportation is not applicable to Medium Duty vehicles. Towing is covered to the nearest Chevrolet Medium Duty dealer if your vehicle cannot be driven because of a warrantied defect. Please refer to Warranty Administration Bulletin #07-00-89-037: Warranty Administration – GM Courtesy Transportation and Roadside Assistance Programs for further information.

Chronology of Defect Determination
Describe the chronology of events leading up to the defect determination decision.
On January 12, 2024, Isuzu North America Corporation (INAC) QA received a report of a fire that occurred under the dash of a 2024MY F-Series in Georgia in a vehicle owned by a large fleet customer. INAC QA immediately reached out to the Isuzu
Commercial Truck of America (ICTA) fleet representative and requested them to schedule a date at which an inspection of the vehicle could be performed.
On January 30, 2024, ICTA and INAC QA, together with representatives from the Fleet and the vehicle upfitter, performed a joint investigation on the subject vehicle. The conclusion reached based on the inspection was that the T harness connecting the Mobileye (passive) driver collision avoidance system to the subject vehicle’s turn signal/flasher module had caught fire. Upon further disassembly of the vehicle, the inspection participants discovered that the Mobileye camera cable which is routed under the dash was damaged by one of the dash mounting bolts and that exposed wires were present.
On February 1, 2024, ICTA issued a Field Product Report (FPR) for the subject vehicle in Georgia describing the damage found.
On February 1, 2024, INAC QA met internally and began reviewing the inspection photos from the subject vehicle in Georgia, the returned T harness, and the Mobileye and vehicle circuitry, along with past field data related to any Mobileye system issues. INAC QA reviewed a report from the same fleet regarding a fire that occurred in September 2023 in an F-Series vehicle equipped with a Port-installed Mobileye system. Although that fire was originally determined to be of unknown origin, upon re-review, INAC QA concluded that the Florida case and Georgia cases may have been related to the same root cause.
Between February 5, 2024, and February 7, 2024, the Fleet completed the inspection all 18 of its F-Series vehicles at its Georgia location. The Fleet reported to ICTA that 3 additional vehicles were found to have damaged Mobileye camera cables, and that the damage location was the same as the subject vehicle. Including the subject vehicle, the results indicated that 4 out of 18 (or 22%) of the vehicles at the Georgia location had camera cables that had been damaged by the dash or dash mounting bolt.
On February 6, 2024, INAC QA met with engineers from Isuzu Technical Center of America (ITCA) to review the cable routing and installation process. During this visit, INAC QA retrained the Port Installed Option (PIO) staff and informed them of the importance of ensuring the camera cable was properly positioned under the dash.
On February 8, 2024, INAC QA notified Isuzu Motors Limited (IML) about the subject vehicle in Georgia, describing the damage found.
Between February 1, 2024, and February 12, 2024, INAC QA completed the analysis of the field data and found there were a total of 11 vehicles which had cases of pinched or damaged camera cables (including the Georgia and Florida cases discussed above), with 4 resulting in fire or thermal damage. Review of the available photos from the cases also supported the conclusion that the diodes were being burned in the T harness.
On February 13, 2024, INAC QA performed an on-vehicle test and was able to induce a flame within 31 minutes.
On February 19, 2024, INAC QA finalized the review of the current field cases.
Although Isuzu is not aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths associated with this issue, on February 21, 2024, Isuzu
made a decision to conduct a safety recall to address this concern. Isuzu
has received 5 warranty claims that could be related to this issue.

STOP DELIVERY ORDER
Effective immediately, stop the delivery of certain 2020-2024 model year Chevrolet Low Cab Forward vehicles in
new or used vehicle inventory. Isuzu Motors Limited, the manufacturer of these vehicles, has notified the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about a safety recall that involves these vehicles. The GM
recall number is N242441050.
It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle
equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification until the defect is remedied.
Isuzu Motors Limited, the manufacturer of these vehicles, has determined a defect, which relates to motor vehicle
safety, exists in certain 2020-2024 model year Chevrolet Low Cab Forward vehicles equipped with forward collision
alert and lane departure warning. In the affected vehicles, the Mobileye camera cable extends from the centrally
mounted windshield camera to the left A-pillar of the vehicle. In some of the subject vehicles, the Mobileye camera
cable was installed in a manner that allowed the cable to become damaged either by the dash mounting bolts, the
steel dash support bracket or by the dash itself. In the event the camera cable is damaged, the potential exists for
the turn signal indicator wire, in the cable, to become grounded to the vehicle cab. If this condition occurs, when
using the turn signal(s) or hazard lights, up to 15 amps of unexpected current can flow into this circuit. This will
result in a buildup of heat within two diodes in the T-harness located under the left side of the dash. Continued
operation of the turn signal(s) or hazard lights results in gradual failure of the diode(s) due to excess current. The
diode(s) can become hot enough to ignite the T-harness insulating material, resulting in a fire.
If the turn signal indicator wire in the Mobileye camera cable is grounded, one or more of the following events
could occur – in each case, increasing the risk of a fire or crash:
• The hazard lights may illuminate when the driver applies either the left or right turn signal.
• The turn signals and hazard lights may not function when the driver applies them.
• The Mobileye system may cease to function and display an error code, or no longer provide the driver with any
collision avoidance information on the display.
• Smoke or fire may occur under the left side of the dash.
Parts are not currently available, but when parts are available, Dealers will be required to inspect the Mobileye
camera cable. If the cable is undamaged, the dealer will reroute the cable to a revised location within the dash that
does not contain any potential pinch or bolt damage points. If the turn signal indicator wire within the cable is
damaged, the dealer will remove and replace the Mobileye camera cable and T-harness, then reroute the cable to
the revised location.
Until further instructions are received, involved vehicles that are in dealers’ possession (new or used vehicle
inventory, GM Certified Used, courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, etc.) must be held and not
delivered to customers, dealer-traded, released to auction, used for demonstration purposes or any other dealer
use. All GM Certified Used vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the Certified Pre-Owned Inventory
System (CPOIS) will be de-certified.
The Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) screen in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system has been updated
for this recall. This action has been taken to assist dealers with determining which vehicles are involved so they can
properly respond to customer inquiries.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Dealers will be required to inspect the Mobileye camera cable. If the cable
is undamaged, the dealer will reroute the cable to a revised location within the dash that does not contain any potential pinch or bolt damage points. If the turn signal indicator wire within the cable is damaged, the dealer will remove and replace the Mobileye camera cable and T-harness, then reroute the cable to the revised location. For vehicles that previously had this condition repaired which were not covered by warranty Isuzu will reimburse the customer for the cost of the repair. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Both components are identical and there is no defect in the component itself. The remedy involves ensuring the cable routing is changed within the dash to eliminate any potential pinch or damage points and/or replacing the parts that have been damaged as a result of the improper routing.
A Stop Ship was placed on Isuzu F-Series and Chevrolet 6500/7500XD vehicles equipped with Mobileye on February 26, 2024. All trucks processed after this have the Mobileye camera harness routed to the new approved location, which eliminates the pinch points and potential for damage from the dash bolts or dash. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Isuzu and Chevrolet will notify their respective vehicle owners and
dealers of this recall. They will be informed that the recall inspection and repair will be done free of charge. Remedy parts are not available to repair vehicles that fail the inspection. Therefore, the first Owner Letter
(i) will ask owners to promptly make an appointment with their Dealer for an inspection and (ii) will inform owners that, if damage is found as a result of the improper routing, they will receive a second letter asking them to bring their vehicles back to the Dealer when replacement parts become available. The first recall owner notification is expected on or about 3/29/2024. For additional information, Isuzu owners may contact Isuzu Customer Relations at 1-866-441-9638 and Chevrolet owners may contact the GM Medium Duty Truck assistance line at 1-800-862-4389.

To: All General Motors Dealers
On February 28, 2024, GM sent to all GM dealers GlobalConnect Message GCUS-3-3161 regarding safety recall N242441050.
The required repair to complete this recall is not yet available. Until further instructions are received, the involved vehicles that are in dealers’ possession (new or used vehicle inventory, GM Certified Used, courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, etc.) must be held and cannot be delivered to customers, dealer-traded, released to auction, used for demonstration purposes or put to any other use.
This message is to inform dealers who have involved vehicles in their inventory that they can now apply for the used vehicle Working Capital Assistance Program (“WCAP”) for safety recall N242441050.
Before proceeding with the application process described below, dealers must verify vehicle eligibility based on the program terms and guidelines that were provided in GM GlobalConnect Message GCUS-9-14456 dated March 29, 2023. Applications submitted on ineligible vehicles are subject to chargeback of any incentives paid to the dealer under the WCAP. Because compensation and tracking requires visibility into dealers’ inventory, dealers must also have agreed to a Dealer Data Share agreement with GM in order to receive any compensation under this program.
To apply for the WCAP for safety recall N242441050, dealers must access the GM Global Warranty Management (GWM) system and submit a “ZSET” warranty transaction using the labor code provided below for each eligible vehicle. This zero dollar special transaction type is the dealer’s application for compensation and constitutes a representation from the dealer that the vehicle is eligible for WCAP assistance.
Note: Acceptance of the warranty transaction does not ensure vehicle eligibility or guarantee the provision of any assistance as defined by program terms and guidelines.

To be eligible for the WCAP, a vehicle must be in dealer inventory at the time the related field action bulletin is released. If a vehicle has been delivered, wholesaled or otherwise disposed of prior to release of the bulletin, the vehicle is not eligible for assistance. Additionally, recalled vehicles taken in on trade may be eligible for assistance if the dealer immediately reports the vehicle in used vehicle inventory via its Dealer Management System (DMS) and makes application through the GWM system.
To ensure that GM is receiving daily inventory information, which is necessary to process payments and make eligibility determinations under the WCAP, the dealer’s vehicles must be properly identified in the dealership’s DMS. A daily feed of this information is provided to GM through the Dealer Data Share (DDS) agreement.
Beginning with the 1st quarter of 2019, all WCAP payments will be facilitated through the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system. For each eligible vehicle, a qualifying dealer will submit for WCAP vehicle enrollment with a “ZSET” transaction type and for reimbursement with a “ZFAT” transaction type both through the GWM system. If approved, a WCAP credit for that vehicle will be issued through the GWM system similar to any other warranty credit. WCAP submission instructions and the required labor code will also be provided in the appropriate field action bulletin. Each WCAP transaction being credited will be clearly identified on the dealer’s daily credit memo.
In order to receive payment, a dealer must have timely reported the vehicle in used vehicle inventory, retained the vehicle until the related field action bulletin is released, and properly applied for the WCAP payment. The vehicle must also be otherwise eligible under WCAP rules and guidelines.
GM reserves the right to amend, modify, terminate, or cancel this program at any time in its sole discretion.
