Condition
Some customers may comment on a vibration type noise at highway speeds and/or with Engine
Speed at 1,300-1,500 RPM. The sound can usually be heard from under the vehicle.
Cause
The cause of the condition may be due to some of the metal gasket tabs between the front exhaust and muffler not being fully crimped, exhibiting some spring-back, allowing for them to touch at certain speeds / RPMs.
Correction
Refer to the procedure below to correct the condition stated above.
Service Procedure
With a small punch or chisel and hammer bend/crimp the tabs on the exhaust gasket in further to prevent any spring-back and provide increased clearance between the two tabs to correct the noise or cutting the tabs off the gaskets is also acceptable.
