Service Procedure
5912607
1. Inspect the roof bow by sliding a plastic trim tool
between the rear of the sunroof opening and the
headliner.
2. Slide the trim tool into the seam where the
structural adhesive should be. If the paddle can
penetrate between the roof bows and the roof,
anywhere along the seam, this is considered a bad
condition, and should require adhesion.
5912608
3. Inspect the D-Ring by gently pulling down the
headliner around the sunroof opening, at the left
rear corner.
Page 2 November, 2021 Bulletin No.: 21-NA-241
5912611
Note: It is NOT recommended to ONLY do a visual
inspection.
Note: Be careful not to crease the headliner or knock
the blue blocks out of position when running your hand
in-between the headliner and roof to feel for the D-ring.
4. The headliner should be flexed just enough to not
only visually inspect the D-ring, but also use your
hand to press on it physically to verify the adhesion
bond is good.
5. After verification is complete, re-assemble the seal
around the sunroof opening. If the adhesive is
required, then the headliner must be dropped for
the application process.
6. Obtain the recommended 3M™ Impact Resistant
Structural Adhesive #07333, or equivalent, and
apply following the steps below:
6.1. Remove the left side B & C pillar trim panels,
and lower the rear of the headliner enough to
access the D-ring. Refer to Headlining Trim
Panel Replacement in SI.
5912613
6.2. Use a plastic trim stick to check, and pry the
metals apart. If the vehicle is NOTexhibiting
the condition, the panels will not separate. If
they separate as shown, wedge the trim stick
in between the panels and inject the Plio-grip
adhesive.
5912614
Note: Seats, carpet and any other trims should be
covered to protect from any drips of repair sealant.
6.3. Starting at one side, insert the tip of the
cartridge in between the metals. Then begin
to inject a thick bead (approximately 4–5 mm
(0.160–0.20 in) of adhesive in between the
metals.

6.4. Work your way across to other end of the
bracket. Remove the trim stick and the allow
metals to snap back. The joint should be
visibly full of adhesive.
5912616
Note: The graphic above shows the Rear Roof Bow
(Rear inside structural bow at rear of sunroof opening),
with the adhesive installed.
6.5. Adhesive must fill the entire void.

6.6. Wipe off any drips (1) and excess adhesive,
to prevent contact or contamination of other
parts. Ensure there remains a clean, thick
bead (2) of adhesive.
Note: Avoid driving the vehicle and allow the adhesive
to cure at least 10 hours after application.
7. Reinstall the headliner and trim panels, once the
adhesive install is complete. Refer to Headlining
Trim Panel Replacement in SI.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a “do-it-yourselfer”. They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
