Note: Most radar reflections may be found worse on the driver side than the
passenger side.
This condition may be caused by unwanted radar reflection being detected and triggering
the false alerts.
Correction If the side blind zone has been found not working properly, apply a piece of aluminum
butyl tape to the bottom of the side object sensing alert module.
Service Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the
Vehicle in SI.
3608376
2. Remove the affected side rear wheelhouse liner
(3). Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement
in SI.
3. Separate the wiring harness from the anchor point
under the module.
Note: The lower area must be completely covered,
including the wire harness anchor point, to avoid
unwanted radar reflections to be detected.
4. Using Acrysol or equivalent, clean the bottom of
the module and fascia.
5. Using care, cut a 3½ inch wide section of
butyl tape.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a “do-it-yourselfer”. They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
