Condition
Some customers may comment that a whine noise can be heard coming from under the
vehicle, radiating from the driveline.
– The condition is most noticeable at cruising speeds with light throttle input or while
coasting around 48-60 km/h (30-60 mph).
– The noise may be found more prominent when the transmission is cold and slowly
diminishes as the vehicle warms up.
Cause This condition may be caused by a drive chain internal to the 9 speed transmission
radiating through the propeller shaft.
Correction Replace the propeller shaft with a new design propeller shaft that has an integrated tuned
vibration absorber designed to mitigate this noise.
