Summary
This service bulletin provides a repair procedure to replace the oil control valve (OCV) to correct customers driveability concerns of Chuggle, Surge, Misfire and a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated.

Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:
- Surging while driving • Runs rough at idle
- Misfires while driving
- MIL illuminated
Technicians may find DTC P0068, P0101, P0106, P0171, P0300, P16D0, P16D1, P2646, P2647 set in the Engine Control Module (ECM).
Technicians may also find P219A set and no misfire counts seen using GDS or felt by the driver.
Cause
The intake rocker arm
oil control valve may have an internal electrical or mechanical concern.
Correction
If diagnostic procedures in Service Information (SI) do not resolve the vehicle concern, remove and inspect the intake rocker arm
oil control valve for missing components.
- If any of the components are missing, replace the intake rocker arm
oil control valve and camshaft cover.
⇒ The camshaft cover must be replaced because the components become lodged in the camshaft cover oil passages and cannot be removed.
- If the intake rocker arm
oil control valve is not missing any components, only replace the intake rocker arm
oil control valve.
Note: If a previous rocker arm
control solenoid came apart and pieces are stuck in the cam cover passages, this can cause any of the concerns to happen even when a new rocker arm
control solenoid is installed.

Correction
If diagnostic procedures in Service Information (SI) do not resolve the vehicle concern,
