This PI has been revised to add the 2015-2017 Model Years. Please discard PI0341D.
Condition/Concern #1
Some customers may comment that the front sunroof sunshade will not latch in the closed position.
The molded-in sunroof sunshade striker on the sunroof module may be broken.
Recommendation/Instructions #1
Replace the front sunroof sunshade striker with the service replacement striker by riveting it to the sunroof module assembly.
- Check that the sunroof sunshade striker fits into where the broken striker was by placing the sunroof sunshade striker under the bottom of the front rail. File to fit if necessary.
- Place the sunroof sunshade striker on the top surface of the front rail to locate the holes. Mark the hole locations.
Important: When drilling holes, be careful not to drill through the headliner.
- Drill two 4.5 mm holes.
- Place the sunroof sunshade striker on the bottom surface of the front rail and align the holes.
- Install rivets from the top side to secure the sunroof sunshade striker in place.
- Verify striker operation.
Condition/Concern #2
Some customers may comment that the front sunroof sunshade is difficult to latch in the closed position.
The front rail of the sunroof module may sag due to high ambient temperatures causing the sunshade striker to sit lower. This is more prevalent on dark colored vehicles when parked in direct sunlight for an extended period of time.
Recommendation/Instructions #2
Remove the existing molded-in sunroof sunshade striker and install the service replacement striker by riveting it to the sunroof module assembly.
Important: When removing the striker, be careful not to cut/damage the headliner.
- Remove the existing sunshade striker using a Dremel or similar tool.
- Place the sunroof sunshade striker on the top surface of the front rail to locate the holes. Mark the hole locations.
Important: When drilling holes, be careful not to drill through the headliner.
- Drill two 4.5 mm holes.
- Place the sunroof sunshade striker on the top surface of the front rail and align the holes.
- Install rivets from the bottom side to secure the sunroof sunshade striker in place.
- Verify striker operation.
