Models: | 2015 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV |
2015 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, Suburban, Tahoe | |

Condition
Certain 2015 model year Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra Crew Cab, GMC Yukon, and GMC Yukon XL vehicles may have a condition that can allow water to leak into the vehicle’s roof-mounted antenna. This condition could prevent the vehicle’s OnStar system from accurately determining the vehicle’s location; disable the vehicle’s compass, navigation, and XM radio systems; illuminate the vehicle’s red OnStar LED indicator; and allow water into the interior passenger compartment.
Correction
Dealers are to replace the OnStar antenna.
Vehicles Involved
All involved vehicles are identified by Vehicle Identification Number on the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management system. Dealership service personnel should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be involved regardless of description or option content.
For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided to US and Canadian dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.
The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program.
Parts Information
Parts required to complete this program are to be obtained from General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales (GMCCA). Please refer to your “involved vehicles listing” before ordering parts. This part will be on Order Writing control initially and all DRO’s (Daily Replenishment Orders) will cancel. Dealers can place orders CSO (Customer Special Order). In emergency situations, a dealer should place a SPAC case and the orders will be processed in the order received.
Note: Use the vehicle identification number (VIN) and the GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) to determine which High Frequency Antenna to order.

I just went thru this same issue with my 2016 Suburban. The dealer acknowledged the problem but said GM only replaces the 2015’s. I went thru the proper hoops with Customer Care. Wasted 10 days. Truly like GM vehicles but customer loyalty means everything to me. I’m done with Government Motors. But not before I exhaust all legal possibilities first.
I have the same issue. My GPS failed while the Silverado was still under warranty. The dealer corrected the problem for no charge…. BUT several months late it acted up again and now they want over $600.00 to fix it. I’m so disgusted with GM and how they fail to correct factory errors. I will not, under any circumstance, ever purchase another GM product.
I have a 2016 ESCALADE doing the exact same thing. I bought it last week and it was working fine as far as I could tell. Then yesterday we got a hard rain all day long and then this morning NO XM radio and my GPS has me located in the middle of somewhere I have never been, i then contacted onstar to see if they could locate me and they said they could not make a connection with my vehicle. Then when I googled the issue I got this page. Why is this not extended to 2016 why did they not fix this issue when it happened in 2015.
I never received the letter this references, and now I am supposed to pay $450 to have it fixed so I can have navigation again…BS! I will add this to the laundry list of issues I have had with my Tahoe. I will DEFINITELY file a complaint as mentioned in a previous comment, and I will also contact GM because this is not the 1st issue I have had with the vehicle nor the 1st time I have had to contact them about the vehicle.
1. 10/1/18: Called GM Customer Service No help. Created Complaint # 8-4680994969
2. 10/2/18: Took car to dealership, quoted amount for repair. Recommend we call GM Customer Service: 1-866-522-9559. They recommended we call Federal Government Recall Line.
3. 10/3/18: Called Federal Government Recall Line 1-888-327-4236. They have initiated a complaint in the office of investigation. Complaint # 11133087. You can look it up on NHTSA.gov in 72 hours. It is terrible for GM not to take care of it’s people when they know this is a problem. People should inundate the complaint line with complaints if they are experiencing the same issue.
I just paid over $500 ($167 part plus $350 labor) to fix this exact problem on my 2015 Yukom XL Denali then I found this. I think it’s absolutely disgusting that GM wouldn’t fix this knowing it’s an ongoing issue.
It appears I have the same issue with my 2015 Surburban antenna. I am at a $350 plus labor charge, having to replace it with a new one.
It is defective. Period. And I think GM should extend the free replacement date. Oddly enough, I was in for a service being done to replace a faulty air bag when the faulty antenna was discovered. Ok GM… where’s the integrity?
Why was I not notified by mail about the antennae leak problem, now mine leaks and they want $350.00 to fix it.
“have a condition that can allow water to leak into the vehicle’s roof-mounted antenna.” This is happening to my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, I have water leakage thru my headliner as stated -“allow water into the interior passenger compartment.” Why wasn’t this also covered for 2014 models? I can see the water goes thru the grommet under the Onstar antenna. I am having to pay for a factory defect at the dealer now. I purchased the vehicle in the last year (used). The dealer said they did not fix this on the lot as it wasn’t a 2015 model. But it is the same problem with my 2014.
This was already completed on this vehicle by the dealer.
