Summary
This Preliminary information communicates a possible issue with the active fuel management rockers causing a misfire and the correction for this concern.
Condition
A 2021 vehicle equipped with a HFV6 Gen2 engine with AFM may be brought into the dealership with misfires on cylinder 2 or 5.
This could be misfire all the time or start after an AFM event that may or may not go away.
Cause
We have determined there is an issue with some rockers / SRFF’s on the vehicles within the breakpoints listed above.

Correction: If you have a vehicle with this concern, swap the AFM rocker oil control solenoid in the camshaft cover from side to side and reevaluate. If the misfire remains or comes back after an AFM event on the same cylinder, replace all 4 rockers / SRFF’s and all 4 SHLA’s / lifters for the affected cylinder. If the misfire goes away or moves to the other bank, replace the AFM oil control solenoid.
