A vehicle may be encountered with a buzz or rattle type noise. It may be heard or felt in the floor pan, in the dash or throughout the vehicle. This noise can be extremely difficult to duplicate. It will dependent on engine
load rather than vehicle speed. Normally it can be duplicated at 2,000- 2,500 engine RPM’s but may come in at a higher range. The vehicle must be driven to duplicate the concern.
Cause
Loose or missing welds inside the front muffler/resonator
Correction:
Review 21-NA-118 Vibration Type Noise Heard at Highway Speeds or with Engine Speed at 1,300-1,500 RPM to ensure that the
gaskets are not the cause of the noise.
If the concern can be duplicated use chassis ears at or near the exhaust resonator/muffler to determine if this is where the noise is coming from.
If the vehicle was built between start of production 2021 and 6/1/2021 replace the exhaust system from the exhaust flanges back.
