Note: The projected logo shows where the hands free kicking motion is to take place. An
example is shown above.

Some customers may comment that the on-ground image of the rear closure hands free
lamp logo projection is distorted, and does not resemble the Chevrolet Bow Tie. Some
further comment that the logo lamp resembles a ‘C’ or a circle.
Cause The cause of the condition may be water entering between the rear closure hands free
lamp and lamp bracket, and gathering onto the lens of the lamp.

Note: The illustration above shows a cross-section of the seal installed (1), which results
in blocking the main water path.
Following the steps in the Service Procedure below, add the service part foam seal
referenced in the Part Table.
Service Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and
Jacking the Vehicle, in SI.

Note: It is NOT necessary to remove the rear fascia or
disconnect the electrical connector.
2. Remove the 2 retaining screws (1), and reposition
the rear closure hands free lamp (2) away from the
lamp bracket.

Important: The adhesive side of the seal should be
placed on the lamp bracket.

3. Install the new lamp seal (2) onto the lamp bracket,
at the interface between the lamp and bracket.
4. Reposition the rear closure hands free lamp (1) to
the seal and bracket, then reinstall the fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5Y(13 lb in).
5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
