The technician may find low or empty refrigerant in the system.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a leak at the A/C condenser receiver/dehydrator tank plug.
Correction
Note: The Receiver/Dehydrator Plug can be found in the lower left side of vehicle. For clarity, the condenser shown below is out of vehicle and up-side down.
Note: Due to possibility of the new/replacement desiccant being compromised, replace ONLY the Receiver/Dehydrator plug until further notice. Do not open the A/C system until the replacement part is at the dealer.
- Inspect the AC Condenser (1) and inspect the receiver/dehydrator tank plug (2).
- Add A/C dye to verify that the leak is coming from the plug.
- If refrigerant has been validated to be coming from the tank, replace the plug using a desiccant kit.
- If no signs of leaking have been found, refer to SI for further diagnostics.
