Rear liftgate will not open with the outside handle.
This may be due to the liftgate latch release cable becoming separated from the outside handle.
Note: Liftgate latch cable CLIPS are not serviced separately.
Replace the liftgate latch release cable with a new designed cable and the liftgate latch handle which comes with a new design cable clip.
Follow the instructions listed below:
- Remove the liftgate trim panel.
Note: Notice the orientation of the cable for installation purposes.
- Disconnect the cable from the outside handle.
- Disconnect the cable from the liftgate latch.
- Remove the liftgate handle.
- Install the cable to the latch and outside handle. Rotate the blue clip counterclockwise until the clip is fully engaged to the cable.
- Install the liftgate trim panel.
