Summary
This informational bulletin advises the tech of a different tire/rim option that can be used to correct the customers concern.
Condition
Some customers may comment on poor ride quality at highway speeds.
Cause
This condition may be caused by tire inflation pressure that is high to handle load capacity of the truck. If the truck is driven unloaded, then the road inputs may give a harsh ride for the occupants.
Correction
Important: This is not a warranty concern but an option and any action taken would be a customer pay event.
Note: Techline will need to be contacted to update the calibration to correct the speedometer.
Verify that there are no imbalance or road force issues with the tires.
If the tires are within balance and RF specs and the ride quality is still undesirable, to improve ride quality, the Accessory Group has released an 18″ or 20″ wheel and tire for this model of truck. Refer to the Accessory Site for available wheels and tires system.
The spare tire and wheel will have to be replaced with the production 18″ spare to provide the correct circumference tire to work properly with the ABS and stability system. .

- Large interlocking tread blocks help to deliver strong on- and off-road durability
- Saw-tooth block edges offer all-season traction on and off the road
- Multi-angle sipes offer all-season traction on and off the road
- The optimized tread pattern enhances tread life and helps to quiet noise from on-road driving
- The rugged stepped shoulder helps to provide added traction in deep mud and snow
- Treadlife: N/A
- Season: All Season
- Performance: Mud Terrain
- Car Type: Light Truck
- Load Range C, 6-Ply Rated, 6-PR
- Class-leading performance in the mud and snow, with an angled chamfer that creates hundreds of gripping edges, and a deep, tapered tread block that promotes self-cleaning.
- Engineered for a quiet, comfortableride, with symmetric tread design and variable-pitch tread blocks to reduce road harmonics.
- Excellent grip and stability in inclement weather, with deep central grooves to channel rain and snow away quickly.
- For long tread wear and fuel efficiency, the dual silica compound is engineered to cool quickly and wear evenly.
- CoreGard Technology: Tougher Sidewall Rubber: Split & bruise resistant sidewall rubber, derived from BFGoodrich's race proven Baja T/AKR2 tire. Thicker, Extended Shoulder Rubber: Increased rubber thickness, extending down the sidewall to protect more of the critical sidewall failure zone. Advanced Deflection Design: Computer predicted object path design deflects protruding objects from snagging & splitting the sidewall.
- Specially formulated tread rubber: Optimally blended to reduce chip and tear for superior gravel road endurance. Advanced tire footprint shape: results in more evenly distributed stress, for longer more uniform wear. Interlocking Tread Design: provide increased tread block stability, for more even wear over the long haul Stone Ejectors: Rejects stone retention & provides extra tread cleanout protection against stone drilling.
- Upper Sidewall Traction Bars: Protruding sidewall rubber blocks that provide increased mud, snow & rock traction, especially in aired-down driving situations. Mud-Phobic Bars: Raised bars in the shoulder tread area that helps to release compacted mud for enhanced traction in muddy and soft soil conditions.
- Serrated Shoulder Design: Staggered shoulder blocks that provide greater maneuverability in soft soil and deep snow conditions. Locking 3-D Sipes: 3-D active sipe technology, that provides more biting edges for significantly increased snow traction. 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake: Exceeds Rubber Manufacturer Association (RMA) Severe Snow Traction requirements.
