Condition

A popping or creaking type noise may be heard inside the cabin if the customer has the brakes applied while turning the steering left or right. This type of maneuver should be avoided

Cause

The noise is created due to a momentary slip-stick condition between the brake pads and rotors that is normal noise heard during steering wheel rotation with the vehicle stationary and the brakes applied. The noise can be heard from the front or rear suspension areas.

Correction:

Do no replace components for this noise as it is a normal characteristic.

Please educate the customer to avoid turning the steering wheel WHILE sitting stationary AND with the brakes applied.
