Cause Fuel Leakage From Fuel Rail
Correction:
If you are working on a customer concern of fuel odor from the engine compartment on listed vehicles, perform
the following Inspections.
First, perform a visual inspection of the High Pressure Fuel Pump and all related low pressure and high pressure
fuel lines.
If no leaks are found on these components, add fuel system leak dye to the fuel tank and Idle the engine for ????ve
minutes.
Follow GSI service procedures to remove the Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator.
Danger: The noise canceling foam component (Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator) MUST be replaced if it has been
exposed to engine ????uids. Failure to replace the noise canceling foam component that has been exposed to engine
????uids may result in an engine ????re resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.
Inspect the high pressure fuel rail feed pipe and fuel injector connections for signs of dye or leakage.
Inspect the Fuel Rail end cap at the location shown below for signs of dye or leakage.
Replace any fuel system component where leakage is found following all GSI service procedures and con????rm the
repair.
