Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:
• MIL is illuminated
• Limited vehicle speed
Some technicians may find DTC P07A7 (Transmission Clutch 3 Stuck On) set in the
Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM).

This condition may be caused by the 1-3 clutch return spring ring (1) that has come
out of its groove, causing the Variable 1-4 and 1-3 Clutch Piston Return Spring Plate to
contact (2) the variable clutch plate assembly.

Correction
Note: The addition of this C3 snap ring retainer will correct the condition and allow for
repair, in lieu of transmission replacement.
Engineering has designed a snap ring retainer that will stop the snap ring from rotating,
which keeps it securely in its designed groove.
⇒ The C3 clutch assembly must be disassembled, replacing both the clutch
pack and the snap ring as well as adding the new snap ring retainer.

in SI.

Important: During assembly, position the 1-3 clutch
return spring ring, as shown in the above picture, to aid
in retainer installation.
