Condition | Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions when operating their vehicle with a DEF tank level of approximately 30% or less and after negotiating a sustained right hand turn maneuver such as an entrance or exit ramp to a highway:
• Temporary activation of the “Service Emission System” warning in the Driver Information Center (DIC) which clears shortly after the maneuver • Illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) which persists for several key cycles Some technicians may find DTC P206C (Reductant Quality Sensor Circuit Low Voltage) set in history of the Emission Reductant Fluid Controller. |
Cause | This temporary condition may exist with a low fill level DEF tank and a sustained right hand turn maneuver. Under these conditions, the DEF Quality Sensor located in the DEF tank, may experience partial fluid coverage which can lead to the false setting of a DEF Quality sensor fault. |
Correction | If the conditions listed above have been validated, replace the Emission Reduction Fluid Controller. |
Service Procedure
Refer to Emission Reduction Fluid Controller Replacement in SI.
